Disk Defragmenter
(Windows 95, 98 and 2000)

Why run Disk Defragmenter: The Defragmenter rearranges storage, so that each file on a disk is saved in contiguous blocks of space. This results in faster access to the information on your disk (keeps the computer from operating sluggish). A good time to run Defrag is while you are away at lunch.

Before beginning: Close all running programs including screen savers and disk maintenance utilities, such as McAfee anti-virus programs. Defrag will take about an hour to run. You will not be able to use your computer during this time period.

1 . Start Disk Defragmenter (Windows 95, 98 and 2000)

Click the Start button >> Programs >> Accessories >> System Tools >> Disk Defragmenter. In the Select Drive window, specify the drive that you want to defragment and click OK.

2. View Defragmenter’s progress
