Q: I'm part of a listserv. With the e-mail address change from smtp to medctr (example: jdoe@smtp.med.ohio-state.edu has now become doe-555@medctr.osu.edu), will delivery of messages be impacted? A: No. The enterprise
setup will initially allow "smtp" addresses to be delivered.
Q: If I need to be a member of a listserv to post messages, will I still be able to do this even though my address has changed from "smtp" to "medctr"? A: You will not be able to post until you resubscribe. When subscribing to a listsserv, it retrieves the "smtp" address as being your delivery address. When posting, it will recognize that you are coming from a different address; therefore, it will see it as an "authorized" posting. APPROPRIATE ACTION: 1.Unsubscribe yourself on the last business day before the change to the "medctr" address. 2. Resubscribe yourself on the first business day after the change. NOTE (for College-managed
listservs only): Should you be concerned about missing postings
during the weekend period, do Step#2 only. Your older/ "smtp" address
will need to be removed afterwards manually (contact Robert McKenney,
COM&PH/OHS IS Office, mckenney.1@osu.edu). Q: How do I subcribe and unsubscribe from an Ohio State University Listserver? A: Listserver List Instructions 1. User Subscriptions Users may subscribe to a listserver list by sending the following e-mail message To: listserver@lists.acs.ohio-state.edu
EXAMPLE:
2. To delete your name from the list, send an e-mail. To: listproc@lists.acs.ohio-state.edu

Q. After the change to the "medctr" address, will my published e-mail address (doe.555@osu.edu) still work? A. Yes. Customers
are still advised to use their published e-mail address for their
business cards and for various other communications; however, over
the next few months (after the changeover to the "medctr" address),
customers will be asked to call OIT, 688-HELP, to have their published
e-mail address redirected to their new "medctr" address.
Q. How do I find out my new "medctr" address? A. The IS Office will be communicating this information via e-mail. If you did not receive, contact the IS Office at 293-3861. |
