GroupWise 5.5 FAQ

Q: How do I edit a calendar entry on in the new GroupWise 5.5 calendar?

A: This is one major difference in the working of the new version of GroupWise. In version 5.2, you would double-click on the appointment, type your change and click OK.  However, version 5.5 does not have an OK button available, and clicking on Close makes an attempt to save your appointment.  The key in version 5.5 is that once you double-clicked the appointment and made your edits, you must go to the Actions menu and choose Post.

Q: Can GroupWise 5.5 spell check my e-mails automatically when I click Send?

A: Sure!  By going to the Tools menu, choosing Options and double-clicking Environment, you will see a checkbox from where you turn on this feature.

Q: Why are the locations of my meetings not displayed when I print my Calendar?

A: In GroupWise 5.5, the default print options can be displayed by choosing Print Calendar from the File menu, and then clicking on the options tab.  When installed, GroupWise defaults to showing only the Start and End Time for your appointments in printed calendars.  To add the location, simply click on the checkbox next to Location.  Also notice, that you can add the message field and also control the printout of tasks and notes from this screen as well.

Q: There are two new icons on my desktop called GroupWise Marquee and GroupWise Desktop.  What are these?

A: Version 5.5 has enhanced the ways to keep track of your appointments and messages even when your GroupWise client is not running.  Desktop is a program that displays your calendar (or even a calendar for which you have proxy access) in a small window on your desktop.  You can have run on top of other programs (such as Word) so that you always have quick access to your calendar.  Marquee employs the same technique for displaying incoming messages on your desktop in a small window.  GroupWise still has the Notify feature available for message notification as well.

Q: In my signature file, I see a checkbox for adding a vCard to my signature.  What is a vCard?

A: A vCard is becoming an industry-standard method for quickly importing contact information into e-mail address books.  The vCard takes your information from the Novell System Address Book and places it in a file that is attached to your e-mail.  If the recipient has GroupWise 5.5 or another compliant e-mail program, they can immediately import the vCard into their address book, eliminating the need to manually enter your contact information.  If you receive a message with a vCard attachment and you wish to import the information into your personal address book, simply right click on the attachment and choose Import.  The user's information will be saved to the personal address book you choose.
