PDA Hardware Standards

Currently the Palm Pilot M505, M515 and Tungsten-T are supported for the 3rd & 4rth Year medical students and OSUMC residents. Since the start of the program, this support has extended to include other OSUMC customers.

The Palm Pilot M500 Series / Tungsten-T are the standard at this time. Support includes installation and maintenance of Palm operating system, AvantGo (PDA Central resources), ePocrates, Acrobat Reader (Version 2.0), backup Utility, Afaria and eRounds.

Research is underway regarding startegies for synching with desktop applications such as Groupwise.

The Ohio State University Medical Center/College of Medicine and Public Health Information Systems Department, will not provide replacements for lost or broken PDAs. Also, lost, broken, or stolen styluses will not be replaced.

The Student Educational Services/PDA Ofiice does provide a limited loaner pool and is able to switch out units that are under warranty and cannot be fixed on - site (applies only to what is covered under palm's warranty agreement)

NOTE: USB devices are NOT supported with the WindowsNT 4.0 operating system.

Groupwise Synching is not supported in PalmOS. Users will need to purchase additional third party software. Contact The PDA Office at 688-5635 with questions.
